Lauren Spoors

Hi Lauren, tell us a bit about yourself..
This week we are finding out what people are reading. What was the last book you read?
I read ‘The Bell Jar’ by Sylvia Plath, and before that I read Anne Frank’s diary.
How long have you been a Volunteer at Globe?
Since the start of February, at the beginning of the Artists vs Hollywood exhibition.
So what have you been up to so far?
I helped to take down the Artists vs Hollywood exhibition and install the new Franko B one. I’ve also helped at both exhibitions in greeting visitors and providing them with information about the artists involved and their work. I’m currently working on archiving and some general gallery admin!
We would love to know some more about your passions and interests?
I’m ridiculous! I pick up a new one and drop it every week! I made a rug last week, but its unfinished. I Like running. I’m trying to finish off my course work at the moment I’m painting like a mad woman.
Wow, thats a lot of stuff Lauren! So.. How do you make a rug?
You get a sack and sew loads of material into it. Its in the bin now though. I’m growing a chili plant now. I’m ashamed of my rug making now! Can’t I say I like cooking instead!
I’m afraid your rug – making -chili – growing antics are out of the bag now..! Let’s put that behind us and look to the future, what are your plans?
Well in the short term, I want to finish this year of my course and go to Europe in the summer, inter-railing. In the long term I want to get my degree in Fine Art.. and then I don’t knoiw what I want to do with my life! Um..more about the short term…I’m doing the race for life next month and will continue with my volunteering at globe. Oh.. and me and my friend are going to set up a student exhibition soon.
Lauren you’ve been a joy to talk to, keep us posted as those long term life plans develop!
