With years of experience in the art world, Mike Collier has spent time as a writer, curator and gallery manager. He has always maintained his artistic practice alongside his career and currently lectures at Sunderland University while basing his studio in Newcastle.

Mike centres his work around the act of walking as a way to engage with and interact with the landscape and environment. In this way, he aims to present a twenty-first century view of the relationship between contemporary society and a more direct experience which forms the basis of our understanding of the environment. Mike uses walking as a way of creating egalitarian art that transcends notions of hierarchy and ownership.
