Olympiad Project: more info
Our project will celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games by involving participants throughout this unique contemporary arts project.
- The first phase is an open call for visual representations of the place you live. Submissions will be shown in two distinct groups: those from people living in the North East and those from people from elsewhere in the UK and hopefully the world. All images must be sent digitally so we can show them as slideshows on our Olympiad Project mini-site.
- The second phase involves Canadian artist Shelley Ouellet selecting images to produce composites that can be worked upon during the participatory workshops.
- Phase three will see Shelley Ouellet and Globe deliver innovative participatory workshops to people from across the North East of England. The workshops will be open to everyone and will take place both in our new gallery and at other locations across the region. We are currently seeking sponsors and delivery partners to help ensure as many people as possible can take part in these sessions. More information about the workshops and how to take part in them will be announced soon.
- We will then install the finished artwork in a prominent public building within the region in time for the arrival of the Olympic torch in the North East.
