A Natural Transition

19 February – 28 February, 2009

From drawing without eyes to seed bombing new life into derelict areas of North Tyneside, muddy allotments to disappearing skylines, bright lights on dark winter nights to seaweed tyres washed away by time and tides, this exhibition presents a mixed media journey ofexploration through past, present and future.

Many of the projects have taken place outside the gallery. Participants have produced work in response to the demise of Swan Hunter, the dwindling fishing fleet, regeneration, guerrilla gardening, local allotment culture, etc. They have also produced several sets of bright window blinds as well as a wall to wall mural reflecting Wallsend Boys Clubs past and future.

‘A Natural Transition’ represents the culmination of Globe Gallery’s first year of vinvolved projects and workshops – the results show the outstanding achievements of everyone who has taken part.
