Globe Gallery hosted a unique event with Chris and Simon Donald, founders of the legendary Viz comic, as part of the North Shields 800 celebrations.

In a fun and interactive session, the Donald brothers shared the secrets behind their unforgettable characters and invited the community to help shape a brand new, one off comic celebrating North Shields 800. Visitors were encouraged to bring forward the colourful characters, tall tales and memorable personalities that have made North Shields what it is, from larger than life neighbours and pub raconteurs to market stall legends and long gone local eccentrics deserving of cartoon glory.

Attendees shared their stories and saw them transformed into comic characters for the special anniversary project, which culminated in a one off comic, Cods Wallop and Chips.

The event took place on Saturday 27th September, 17.00 to 20.00.
